If you’re in the Santa Monica area this Friday, check out Lunch 2.0 at ThisNext. I had a chance to talk with the PR Director at ThisNext, Nicole Jordan. We had a good chat about leftover Lunch 2.0 food and she was generous enough to offer the leftovers to be donated to a nearby charity. So, I found a local charity called the OPCC. OPCC stands for Ocean Park Community Center. They empower people to rebuild their lives. I called them to make sure they accept donations of food, and of course they do. They were so happy to hear that the leftovers from Lunch 2.0 might be donated next Friday. I can’t wait to hear how it goes.

OPCC is a GREAT charity to give to, the largest network of homeless services on the west side. I volunteer as their public relations director. We’re having a press conference this Thursday, Sept. 6 to announce the completion of the new Annenberg Access Center.
The OPCC Annenberg Access Center, an 8,100 square foot homeless services center at Olympic Blvd. and 5th Street in Santa Monica, is the second of two new facilities to be constructed by OPCC (Ocean Park Community Center). The OPCC Annenberg Access Center will more than double the current facility space for these successful programs designed to engage with homeless individuals who are still living on the streets and to encourage them and assist them in seeking housing and addressing the issues and challenges in their lives.
OPCC’s 10 programs, on seven Westside locations, provide food, clothing, emergency, transitional and permanent housing, mental and medical health programs, case management, and in-depth preparation for independent living for over 8,000 homeless individuals and families, battered women and their children, and people living with mental illness each year.
