Last week I started to get a little worried that I would forget some tasks I want to take care of for Giving 2.0.  So, I started a to-do list on Remember The Milk.  If you would like to help with any of the tasks or see anything missing, please let me know.

I’ve also set up a Giving 2.0 group on Upcoming.  It’ll be a good place keep up to date on Giving 2.0 events.

I also had a good conversation with Chad Lupkes, over at the Charities Wiki.  He’s been busy doing a lot of work to revive the wiki.  If you can help him out and edit or add some pages, please do.  I also started a page for volunteer opportunities.  We would like to hear of more opportunities.

We asked for a “Giving 2.0″ wikia, and instead Wikia made Stephanie an admin for charities.wikia.com.

Also, Chris suggested we use Ma.gnolia to share links and have discussion. I’ve never used Ma.gnolia but it sounds like a good idea to me, so let’s put that on the list of things to look into…

This last week I went to Austin, TX for SXSW. It’s a festival and conference for people in the music, film, and interactive professions. I enjoyed it and made a few contacts. I mentioned Giving 2.0 to a few people. Some wanted to help out and others, working for non-profits, were wondering if we’ll be able to help them out in some way. In fact, it looks like Chris Messina of Citizen Agency is already starting to help out by posting on Ma.gnolia.com about it. This is great that he’s helping to get the word out about it online, so a big thanks goes to Chris.

I’m going to start a wiki page of non-profits that we can help as soon as the Wikia wiki I requested is approved and set up. Also, I’ve started a page on the Web 2.0 wiki for Giving 2.0. A big thank you goes to Adam Rifkin, one of the Web 2.0 Elite, for mentioning this wiki to me and helping to edit it.

Giving 2.0 is a community of people who work for Web 2.0 companies who get together to volunteer for charitable organizations. This project is currently in its startup phase. If you would like to assist in the effort to get this movement on it’s feet, please leave a comment or email me. My email address is strimble [AT] gmail [DOT] com.
